The entry-level CL500 BlueEfficiency is claimed to return 23 per cent lower fuel consumption while CO2 emissions reduce from 288 to 224g/km. Meanwhile, fire-breathing AMG versions will debut AMG's new 5.5-litre twin-turbo, direct-injection V8.

Released: Oct 2007

Mercedes-Benz's all-new CL65 AMG high-performance coupe receives its marching orders from AMG-branded sisters models in the S65 and SL65. Its twin-turbo V12 offers 450kW/1000Nm and is paired with an AMG five-speed automatic transmission to reach 100km/h from standstill in just 4.4 seconds.

The flagship Mercedes coupe has been redesigned and the all-new model arrives here in February. Bigger and borrowing CLS styling cues, the new CL has so far only emerged in CL500 and CL600 guises, with a 285kW/530Nm 5.5-litre V8 and a gruntier 380kW/830Nm 5.5-litre twin-turbo V12.
