Australia’s next-generation Swift hatchback is likely to be released exclusively as a five-door once again, powered by a 1.4 or 1.5-litre petrol engine that is both more powerful and efficient that the current model’s. Suzuki Australia is hopeful of also bringing here a revised 190Nm 1.3-litre turbo-diesel with average fuel consumption of 4.2L/100km and CO2 emissions of 109g/km.

The three-box sedan version of Suzuki’s SX4 hatch has been confirmed on sale in Australia in the third quarter. The front-drive SX4 sedan is powered by a 92kW 1.6-litre VVT four-cylinder engine - instead of the SX4 AWD hatch’s 107kW/184Nm 2.0-litre engine. Expect pricing from around $20,000.

Suzuki’s facelifted EZ-series Swift light car will be released locally in July. It features a new grille treatment, slightly redesigned front and rear bumpers, new tail-lights and standard stability control for the Sport - but not turning signals in the wing mirrors as in Japan.
