Super TestCar reviews - Nissan - Patrol - ST 3.0 TDi 5-dr wagonNissan modelsTransmission6 Feb 2001 By P TIBBLES IN a world of full-time 4WD vehicles, the Patrol stands out as one of the few genuine off-roaders relying on a simple, part-time four-wheel drive system. The Patrol uses a two-speed transfer case that is operated by a second shift lever on the centre console to move between two-wheel and four-wheel drive. Part of Nissan's argument is that full-time 4WD tends to be less economical on fuel and tyres. The bottom line is that the big Nissan lacks that added security of 4WD traction on rain-slicked road surfaces - although 4WD can be selected on the move if the driver wants. Did you know? The Patrol's automatic transmission cannot be moved out of Park unless the driver's foot is on the brakeAll car reviewsAlfa Romeo Abarth Alpine Alpina Audi Aston Martin BMW Bentley Chevrolet Chery Citroen Chrysler Dodge Cupra Ferrari DS Ford Fiat FPV Foton GWM Great Wall Holden Haval HSV Honda Hyundai Hummer Isuzu Infiniti Jeep Jaguar Lamborghini Kia LDV Land Rover Lotus Lexus Maserati Mahindra McLaren Mazda Mercedes-Benz Mercedes-AMG Mini MG Nissan Mitsubishi Peugeot Opel Proton Porsche Renault Ram Rover Rolls-Royce Skoda Saab SsangYong Smart Suzuki Subaru Toyota Tesla Volvo Volkswagen |
