Recall: Honda range-wide recall

Potential fuel pump failure for Accord, City, Civic, CR-V, HR-V, Jazz, NSX and Odyssey models

4 Apr 2024

A TOTAL of 52,051 Honda models built between 2017 and 2020 are the subject of an extensive recall related to a potential fuel pump failure that may cause vehicles to become inoperative.

Due to an improper manufacturing process, a component within the fuel pump may cause the unit to swell, causing the unit to fail.

“If the fuel pump stops working, this could stop the engine from starting or stall the engine while driving,” the recall notice states.

“This may increase the risk of an accident and may result in serious injury to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.

“Warning: The hazard posed to consumers from this safety defect includes the risk of an accident resulting in serious injury or death.”

The wide-reaching recall affects Accord, City, Civic (including Type R variants), CR-V, HR-V, Jazz, NSX, and Odyssey models. A full list of VINs for affected models may be found here.

The Vehicle Recalls website states that owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by mail and advised to take their vehicle to a Honda Service Centre for repair.

Consumers can also contact the service department of their preferred Honda Service Centre to make a booking to have the repair conducted free of charge, subject to parts availability, or contact the Honda Customer Relations Department on 1800 804 954.
