Suzuki Jimny recalled over fuel pump fault

Queensland Suzuki Jimny models face recall over potential fault with model’s fuel pump

26 Mar 2024

SUZUKI Queensland – which operates independently of Suzuki Australia – has announced a recall of 286 examples of Jimny models sold in the state between 2018 and 2019.

The recall notice states that a manufacturing defect may lead to the swelling of the fuel pump impeller, causing the fuel pump to stop working.

“Due to a manufacturing defect, the fuel pump impeller may swell and cause the fuel pump to stop working. If this occurs, the engine could stall resulting in a loss of power,” the recall notice states.

“A loss of power whilst driving increases the risk of an accident, causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.”

At this stage it is not believed vehicles sold in other Australian jurisdictions are affected by the fault.

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Suzuki QLD in writing or may contact their nearest Suzuki dealership to schedule an appointment to have the fuel pump replaced, free of charge.

Alternatively, owners may choose to contact Suzuki Auto Co (Queensland) on 07 3623 4900.
