Super TestCar reviews - Toyota - Camry - Altise V6 sedanToyota modelsSafety24 Oct 2002 By BRUCE NEWTON TOYOTA is confidently claiming that the new Camry is improved enough over the old car in terms of construction to move it up from three stars to a four-star crash test result - although any direct reference to the independent NCAP testing regime is judiciously avoided. The car has been tested to Toyota's own GOA (Global Outstanding Assessment) parameters which are designed to be as tough as any current or expected crash test standards. GOA tests endured by Camry included 64km/h offset deformable barrier, rollover, 55km/h side impact and 50km/h rear moving barrier. While the PBR brakes are new (pictured), standard safety equipment includes ABS and dual airbags - although it should be noted that front seat side airbags, which are standard on all other V6 models, can't be had on the Altise. Did you know? The Camry picked up an overall "Good" rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in the USA after a 40mph frontal offset crash test into a deformable barrier. The IIHS found the driver space was maintained well in the frontal offset crash test but noted the possibility of leg injuriesAll car reviewsAlfa Romeo Abarth Alpine Alpina Audi Aston Martin BMW Bentley Chevrolet Chery Citroen Chrysler Dodge Cupra Ferrari DS Ford Fiat FPV Foton GWM Great Wall Holden Haval HSV Honda Hyundai Hummer Isuzu Infiniti Jeep Jaguar Lamborghini Kia LDV Land Rover Lotus Lexus Maserati Mahindra McLaren Mazda Mercedes-Benz Mercedes-AMG Mini MG Nissan Mitsubishi Peugeot Opel Proton Porsche Renault Ram Rover Rolls-Royce Skoda Saab SsangYong Smart Suzuki Subaru Toyota Tesla Volvo Volkswagen |
