Super TestCar reviews - Honda - Integra - 3-dr hatchHonda modelsEngine28 Dec 2001 By BRUCE NEWTON THE latest Integra is powered by an all-new 1998cc four-cylinder engine complete with the latest Honda i-VTEC LEV technology. I-VTEC combines Honda's valve timing technology with variable timing control that continually adjust camshaft phasing for a better spread of performance throughout the rev range, lower fuel consumption and improved emissions performance. Combine that with all-alloy construction, double overhead camshafts and 16 valves, and you're looking at 118kW at a high-revving 6500rpm and 191Nm at a more reasonable 4000rpm. As figures go for 2.0-litre engines that's pretty outstanding, but nowhere near the Type R, which pumps out 147kW at 7400rpm and 192Nm at 6000rpm. Did you know? The Type R gets its extra power courtesy of a more advanced form of i-VTEC and a fixed manifold. Interestingly, the Integra uses a dual-stage manifoldAll car reviewsAlfa Romeo Abarth Alpine Alpina Audi Aston Martin BMW Bentley Chevrolet Chery Citroen Chrysler Dodge Cupra Ferrari DS Ford Fiat FPV Foton GWM Great Wall Holden Haval HSV Honda Hyundai Hummer Isuzu Infiniti Jeep Jaguar Lamborghini Kia LDV Land Rover Lotus Lexus Maserati Mahindra McLaren Mazda Mercedes-Benz Mercedes-AMG Mini MG Nissan Mitsubishi Peugeot Opel Proton Porsche Renault Ram Rover Rolls-Royce Skoda Saab SsangYong Smart Suzuki Subaru Toyota Tesla Volvo Volkswagen |
