Super TestCar reviews - Honda - Insight - 3-dr hatchHonda modelsTransmission19 Jun 2001 By BRUCE NEWTON HONDA engineers designed a new five-speed manual transmission for the Insight to meet design objectives of weight reduction and compact dimensions. Honda claims the shift linkage operates smoothly and requires minimal effort as a result of shortened synchroniser sleeves and a redesigned reverse-gear mechanism. A neutral switch built into the transmission informs the IMA (integrated motor assist) system's idle-stop feature when the driver shifts into neutral. Wherever possible, the petrol engine shuts down to save fuel and minimise emissions. Did you know? The compact Insight transmission weighs 41kg. It is 4.3kg lighter and almost 125mm shorter than a Civic manual transmissionAll car reviewsAlfa Romeo Abarth Alpine Alpina Audi Aston Martin BMW Bentley Chevrolet Chery Citroen Chrysler Dodge Cupra Ferrari DS Ford Fiat FPV Foton GWM Great Wall Holden Haval HSV Honda Hyundai Hummer Isuzu Infiniti Jeep Jaguar Lamborghini Kia LDV Land Rover Lotus Lexus Maserati Mahindra McLaren Mazda Mercedes-Benz Mercedes-AMG Mini MG Nissan Mitsubishi Peugeot Opel Proton Porsche Renault Ram Rover Rolls-Royce Skoda Saab SsangYong Smart Suzuki Subaru Toyota Tesla Volvo Volkswagen |
