Super TestCar reviews - Honda - Insight - 3-dr hatchHonda modelsSuspension19 Jun 2001 By BRUCE NEWTON THE Insight's front suspension uses a strut-style spring/damper unit at each wheel with a 16.5mm diameter stabiliser bar linking the front suspension arms. To save weight, the strut's damper rod is hollow and a lightweight forged aluminium knuckle and lower suspension arm are used. Both of the lower arms' inner pickup points are connected to the same reinforced, cast-aluminium mounting to save space. The rear suspension consists of (steel) twin trailing arms interconnected by a (steel) torsion beam midway along their length. Honda says the torsion beam doubles as a stabiliser bar. Coil springs are also used.
