Volkswagen CaddyCaddy Maxi Life1 Dec 2008 The Volkswagen Caddy Maxi Life may well have a very strong commercial flavour (it is effectively a Caddy Maxi van with extra seats, windows and trim) but the large Volkswagen roundel sitting up front and the capacity to seat seven and their luggage inside - all for $35,000 - might be a persuasive enough proposition to get more families on board the Maxi Life than was achieved with its predecessor (in the Australian market, at least), the Caddy Life. The Caddy Maxi Life adds 47cm to the length of the Caddy Life. Of the increase, 42cm goes to increased boot area length and 5cm to increased rear leg room. Outside, the rear overhang has increased by 15cm and the wheelbase has increased by 32cm. Overall length has increased from 4400mm to 4875mm. The 1.9-litre TDI engine is the only engine choice for Maxi Life, and it develops 77kW at 4000rpm, and 250Nm at 1900rpm and can be had with a five-speed manual or optional with a six-speed DSG automated manual.
