Although nearly identical to its predecessor, the Mk1 Series II Odyssey featured a larger engine (2.3L) with the efficiency benefits of variable valve timing (VTEC).
It produced 110kW of power and more torque as a result.
A re-engineered four-speed automatic transmission was fitted, while clear lens tail-lights, a new colour range, revised instrumentation and trim, and a folding rear armrest completed the changes.
The Mk1 was replaced by the bigger, better Mk2 Odyssey in April 2000, which included a gutsy V6 option for the first time.
