Isuzu Ute, Skoda & Mercedes-Benz Vans issue recalls

ISUZU Ute Australia, Skoda Australia and Mercedes-Benz Vans Australia Pacific have all issued recall notices for a combined 2727 vehicles in recent days, the majority of which concern the Isuzu D-Max pick-up.

The Japanese ute and SUV maker is recalling 2323 MY18 and MY19 D-Max Crew Cabs over fears the rear leaf springs may fracture and split due to “insufficient diameter of the front eye”.

According to the official recall notice, the driver may not be able to maintain full control of the vehicle if the springs do fail, therefore increasing the chances of an accident and subsequent injuries to both vehicle occupants and other road users.

Isuzu Ute Australia is currently in the process of contacting affected owners and has encouraged D-Max Crew Cab owners to contact their preferred dealership for an inspection and replacement of both the left leaf spring and handbrake cable if necessary.

Skoda’s recall affects 395 examples of its MY15-MY18 Superb large car after a software fault was identified in the front indicators.

“Due to insufficient sensitivity of the function monitoring for the turn signals, a failure of the front turn signal may not always be detected,” Volkswagen Group Australia public relations and brand experience manager Kurt McGuiness said.

Skoda says it will be contacting affected owners and advising them on how to arrange an inspection and repair. 

Mercedes-Benz Vans meanwhile has issued a recall for just nine examples of its MY19 Sprinter VS30 van to fix a faulty weld in the height adjuster seam.

According to the official recall notice, the welds may not have been done in accordance to the required and relevant specification and could break in an accident, therefore reducing “the protective effect of the restraint systems”.

Owners of the relevant Sprinter VS30 vans have been encouraged to contact their local dealerships to have the seat base replaced free of charge.
