Energetique for Europe

ARMIDALE-based electric vehicle maker Energetique has signed a preliminary agreement with German automotive engineering service provider RLE International to develop and market its Australian-made EvMe electric vehicle platform in Europe.

As we reported in April, Energetique has developed a fully electric car based on the Mazda2 hatchback, with a range of more than 200km. The fledging EV company delivered the first example to a Glen Innes customer for $70,000 two months ago and says it has expressions of interest for a further 100 vehicles.

Now Energetique hopes to expand into Europe by signing a memorandum of understanding with RLE, which specialises in automotive body engineering, drivetrains and electronics.

The RLE-Energetique partnership plans to develop an adaptable, cost-effective EV platform for a broad range of mobility applications.

According to Energetique, the partnership aims to apply the concept, which was successfully demonstrated in its ‘EvMe’ project, of adapting an electric drive system to existing vehicles for a broad customer base. It says the goal is to provide customers with tailored solutions for limited-volume fleets at an affordable cost.

Energetique’s collaboration with RLE follows a trip to Europe by CEO Dr Phillip Coop, whose company specialises in the design, integration and commercialisation of technologies relating to software, power electronics and the supporting infrastructure for hybrid and electric vehicles.

For its part, RLE says it develops and applies leading-edge technologies in automotive applications, with the aim of making innovative concepts available for public use. The ‘E-Vehicle’ project that results from its deal with Energetique will be developed and marketed in Europe under RLE’s ‘Nova’ umbrella brand.
