Carr door open for green fund feedback

Federal government set for consultation sessions on Green Car Innovation Fund

27 Jan 2009

THE federal government has invited the public to attend consultation sessions on its $1.3 billion Green Car Innovation Fund.

Starting next week ahead of the fund’s July 1 introduction, the consultations will be held in all mainland state capital cities, and, in addition to written submissions, are designed to elicit feedback on the massive eco-car assistance plan using the ‘framework paper’ released in December as the basis for discussion.

Federal industry minister Kim Carr said: “The framework paper outlines how we propose to implement and operate the fund, and we are keen to hear people’s views on these proposals.

“The consultations, like the car plan itself, are about working in partnership with industry to ensure we have a modern automotive sector, providing high-skill, high-wage jobs for the future.

“Feedback from the consultation sessions, combined with feedback from the written submissions I called for in December, will inform the finalisation of the program guidelines for the fund.” The consultation sessions will be held in Brisbane on February 2, Sydney on February 3, Melbourne on February 4, Adelaide on February 6, and Perth on February 10.

Bookings and further information can be obtained through AusIndustry on 13 28 46, email [email protected] or online at www.ausindustry.gov.au.

Written submissions on the fund will be accepted until February 12.
