News - FordFord electrifies tuning scene with crate EV motorNew Ford ‘Eluminator’ to revolutionise tuning scene when it launches at SEMA show24 Aug 2021 FORD Motor Company is about to shake up the tuning world with the release of its first electric crate motor, officially named the Eluminator.
Due to be unveiled in full at the SEMA Show in November, Ford says the new motor is the same one as found in the Mustang Mach E GT electric SUV and will retail for $US3900 ($A5407).
According to the Ford Performance Parts website, the motor will develop 210kW/430Nm straight out of the box and will come with a high-voltage motor to traction invertor harness, low-voltage harness connector and vent tube assembly but not a traction inverter, control system or battery.
Measuring just 570mm long, 345mm wide and 370mm tall, the motor itself should fit in the engine bay of just about any vehicle this side of a Smart Car, with the whole thing weighing just 93kg.
It is unlikely the crate motor will officially make it Down Under any time soon, given Ford Australia is yet to offer an electrified vehicle in this market, let alone a dedicated battery-electric one. Read more |
