News - FordFord and Iveco sign truck cab JDAJoint Development Agreement sees Ford and Iveco partner on heavy-duty truck cabin13 Mar 2025 By MATT BROGAN FORD Trucks and Iveco have announced the signing of a binding Joint Development Agreement (JDA) for the design and engineering of a new cabin for heavy-duty trucks.
The agreement follows last year’s MOU and forms a contractual framework for the co-development of a new heavy-duty truck cabin and related common sourcing, where applicable. Both companies will manufacture and assemble the cabin in their own facilities, customising specific design concepts and selling the products under their respective brands.
The new cabin design is said to enhance the competitiveness of both brands, offering a solution in compliance with the forthcoming EU Direct Vision Standard while also offering improved aerodynamic performance and reduced CO2 emissions.
Both Ford Trucks and Iveco says the design of the new cabin will centre on comfort, safety, aerodynamics, and modularity, while prioritising cost efficiency and “full compatibility with all powertrains”, ensuring both ICE and electrified units may be fitted.
The estimated total expenditure from both parties under the JDA is €343 million ($A595m) with the first cabins expected to be ready for production by 2028.
“At Ford Trucks, we are committed to pushing the boundaries of engineering excellence,” said Ford Trucks vice president Emrah Duman.
“This Joint Development Agreement is a testament to our capability to design and develop cutting-edge solutions that not only meet but exceed the industry’s evolving standards.
“By joining forces with Iveco, we are enhancing our ability to deliver innovative, high-performance cabins that will set new benchmarks in safety, aerodynamics, and driver comfort, all while ensuring cost efficiency and regulatory compliance.”
Mr Duman’s Iveco counterpart Luca Sra, president of Iveco Group’s truck business unit, echoed the comment, saying the JDA will ensure the duo will remain at the forefront of the market.
“We are thrilled to take our partnership with Ford Trucks to the next level through this agreement,” he added.
“By sharing engineering expertise and combining our strengths, we will create a product that sets new standards in safety, efficiency, quality and driver comfort.
“This agreement is a strategic move that will allow both Iveco and Ford Trucks to remain at the forefront of the market, well-prepared to comply with new regulations and deliver exceptional quality and value to our customers.” ![]() Read more22nd of November 2024 ![]() Extensive upgrades for Iveco Daily 4x4New front suspension headlines changes to MY25 Iveco Daily 4x417th of September 2024 ![]() Hyundai, IVECO partner on electric LCVElectric LCV offers 320km range, Genesis-sourced battery tech; Oz market a ‘maybe’ |
