Ford improves Falcon spec

FORD has partially followed Holden’s lead with its upgraded VE Commodore by standardising alloy wheels across the new FG Falcon sedan range, but has not gone all the way by including side curtain airbags.

Rear passenger-protecting curtain airbags remain a $300 option on all Falcon sedans below the G6E variant ($46,990), but the XT gains 16-inch alloy wheels in lieu of the steel wheel and hubcap designs carried over from the BF. The five-spoke alloys were previously a $500 option on the FG.

The Falcon XT sedan’s wheel upgrade is accompanied by a $300 price increase, to $36,790 – the same as its direct rival in Holden’s Commodore Omega sedan.

Buyers can now also order a reversing camera ($500) and premium audio system ($1100) on the $39,990 G6, while the inclusion of DSC traction/stability control on all petrol-powered XR Utes pushes their prices up by $500.

The base XR6 cab-chassis is now priced at $34,590, while the XR6 Styleside Box is $34,990 and the XR6 Turbo and XR8 Utes kick off from $38,990.

A new exterior paint colour, 'Velvet', has also been added to the colour palette for selected premium models across the FG Falcon, SY Territory and FPV vehicle lines.
