Ford launches millennium Fairlane

Loaded: Ford's Fairlane Millennium is packed with $4000

Ford aims to bolster Fairlane sales with a value-added version

18 Jan 2000

FORD has launched a limited edition Fairlane featuring $4000 worth of extra equipment at no added cost.

The $50,990 Fairlane Millennium is externally identifiable by Millennium badges, 17-inch Tickford alloy wheels and a "smoked quartz" surround for the headlights.

Inside, the valued-added Fairlane features a wooden switch surround on the centre console and Millennium logos on the front seats and front and rear floor mats.

Security is enhanced by an alarm that monitors door, bonnet and boot entry.

The Fairlane Millennium also comes with free scheduled servicing for two years or 50,000km - whichever comes first. The offer is along the lines of Daewoo's Freecare program and is the first time Ford has used such an incentive.

Three colours are available - Liquid Silver, Sparkling Burgundy and Congo Green.

The Fairlane was launched in March, 1999, and drew mixed reactions due to its American-inspired styling.

It has been consistently outsold by Holden's Statesman since the launch of the WH model in June.

Consequently, Ford is likely to offer various incentives on its flagship sedan to ensure it does not lag too far behind its main rival in the sales race.
