New models - Aston Martin - Vantage - RoadsterAston Martin reveals Vantage RoadsterGorgeous Vantage Roadster offers the fastest folding retractable roof in the market15 Jan 2025 TWELVE months on from the release of the updated Aston Martin Vantage comes its soft-top sibling, the Vantage Roadster.
Designed in concert with the hard-top, the Vantage Roadster shares much the same structure, and possesses similar levels of rigidity, all while keeping close to the same kerb weight. Aston Martin says the Roadster is just 60kg heavier than the donor model.
In keeping the Roadster trim, Aston Martin opted for a Z-fold roof design which simultaneously omits the need for a tonneau cover. The British marque says the roof may be deployed at speeds up to 50km/h, taking just 6.8 seconds to open or close – the fastest of any roadster on the market today.
It may also be retracted via the car’s key fob provided the owner is within two metres of the car.
The Gaydon-built Vantage Roadster utilises sheer panels within its aluminium and carbon-fibre frame to counter the rigidity loss from the roof. It also features modified rear body attachment points to the coupe, recalibrated Bilstein DTX rear dampers, and different transmission mounts to counter the change in weight distribution.
Despite the changes listed, the Aston Martin Vantage Roadster offers a near-perfect front-to-rear weight distribution ratio of 49:51.
Power continues from the familiar Mercedes-AMG sourced twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 developing 489kW and 800Nm, channelled to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Aston Martin claims a 0-100km/h dash of 3.5 seconds en route to a top speed of 325km/h (unchanged from the coupe).
As before, braking action is from steel rotors measuring 400mm at the front and 360mm at the rear, clasped by six- and four-piston callipers respectively. Carbon ceramic stoppers are available optionally, measuring a mammoth 410mm up front and 360mm at the rear.
The Roadster is shod with Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tyres wrapped around 21-inch alloy wheels in four unique styles.
Three new paint colour choices include Bronze Flare, Iridescent Sapphire, and Satin Iridescent Sapphire. The folding roof is available in black, blue, red, or silver. Customers also have access to Q by Aston Martin personalisation services.
As per the coupe, the Aston Martin Vantage Roadster offers a 10.25-inch infotainment array with gesture control, an 11-speaker / 390-watt audio system with surround sound, optional Bowers & Wilkins sound, and hard-button controls for the exhaust, safety systems, and suspension settings.
“The technical and dynamic capability of New Vantage delivered outstanding performance; far beyond any other preceding Vantage and it is now seen as a true class leading sports car,” said Aston Martin chief executive officer Adrian Hallmark.
“(The) Vantage Roadster was no different feat in that it is a fully reinvented experience, with all the benefits of the Coupe and no compromise to refinement or performance through meticulous work by our engineering and dynamics teams.
“(The) Vantage Roadster delivers a world-class roof-down driving experience like no other.”
The 2025 Aston Martin Vantage Roadster is slated to arrive in Australian dealerships from the second quarter of this year priced from $435,000 plus on-road costs.
