Confirming the revised date, Nissan Australia CEO Dan Thompson said a new Patrol was still “in the pipeline” and that it may be “several years out ... at least two years out from now for us."It was widely believed that the next-generation replacement for the 12-year-old current Patrol was going to debut globally in the Middle East later this year. In January, GoAuto reported that, according to a Nissan Australia spokesman, the next Patrol might be softer than the existing one in an attempt to chase the LandCruiser 200 Series buyer. Nevertheless, the clues were there, as Mr Thompson also said back then: “The timing is still not firm – it won’t be in 2009,” adding that Nissan had other volume-model priorities to deal with in these harsh economic times.
