Nissan previews new Pathfinder SUV at the Paris motor show

DESPITE having been shown at this year’s Detroit motor show, Nissan hasconfirmed the new European-spec Pathfinder to be revealed at this month's Paris motor show will be largely what we see Down Under by mid-2005.

Due on sale in Europe in March next year, the production Pathfinder is asubtle development of the Dunehawk showcar displayed at the Frankfurt motor show last year.

Comprising seating for seven in three rows – with the rear two foldingflat – the new Pathfinder has class-leading luggage space, separatelyopening rear glass and up to 64 different seating configurations.

12 center imageIndependent double wishbone suspension at both ends should continue thecurrent Pathie’s reputation for well-mannered road handling, whileX-Trail’s All-Mode transmission is claimed to further its off-roadability.

A new 2.5-litre YD-series four-cylinder turbo-diesel withsecond generation common-rail technology, a new balancer system andclass-leading power and torque outputs may be available in Australia,where a 3.0-litre petrol V6 will be the top-seller.

The new Pathfinder will also sport an RX330-style rear-view parkingcamera and a keyless locking and starting system dubbed Intelligent Key.

Xenon headlights, premium audio, voice recognitionsatellite navigation, leather trim and dual-zone climate control willalso be available in Europe.
