All-new Range Rover Vogue to hit Sydney show

LAND ROVER has released official images and information about the all-new Range Rover Vogue ahead of its public world debut at the Paris motor show next month.

Australians will have their first opportunity to view the car just weeks later when it appears at the Australian International Motor Show in Sydney starting October 19.

The Indian-owned British SUV specialist has confirmed the fourth-generation Rangie is 420kg lighter than the outgoing model, largely due to its claimed status as the world’s first SUV with an all-aluminium monocoque construction.

Land Rover Australia marketing and public affairs manager Tim Krieger told GoAuto first orders for the new Rangie will be taken after its Paris debut on September 27.

He said Australian deliveries will begin arriving in January, but it was too early to confirm whether pricing will move up, down or remain static.

In addition to obvious fuel consumption and agility benefits, the lighter, stronger construction is said to expand on the Rangie’s already impressive refinement, which Land Rover describes as a “sensation of serene isolation”.

In addition, the new aluminium chassis structures and re-engineered air suspension system are claimed to reduce body-roll and improve steering feel.

More interior space is promised, including a claimed 118mm of extra rear legroom while Land Rover has gone to town on increasing the flagship Rangie’s already high levels of luxury.

Still unmistakably a Range Rover, the new vehicle has adopted Evoque-style headlights and a slimmer grille that softens the traditionally bluff nose, while the traditionally tall glasshouse is retained.

Wrap-around tail-lights are reminiscent of the US-market Explorer SUV from former Land Rover owner Ford.

The reduced bulk helps the Rangie’s off-road abilities and the vehicle will feature Land Rover’s latest Terrain Response system, which analyses driving conditions and automatically selects the most suitable setting.

In keeping with its go-anywhere image, Land Rover says it has put the Range Rover through a “punishing on- and off-road testing regime” taking in more than 20 countries and their extremes of climate and road conditions.
