Supercharged Range Rover Vogue now from $202,100

ENTRY to a supercharged Range Rover Vogue will become $27,900 more affordable from October when the British luxury SUV brand introduces its MY2012 update – which also brings cosmetic changes and the addition of new option packs.

Previously only available on high-spec Autobiography or Autobiography Black variants, the mighty 375kW/625Nm supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine will become available in mid-spec Luxury trim, priced from $202,100 plus on-road costs.

MY2012 Range Rover Vogues are identified by gloss black headlight and tail-light backing plates, black radiator grille surround, body colour side vents and doorhandles, and 20-inch V-spoke alloy wheels.

The mild changes should help maintain customer interest in the archetypal luxury off-roader – Australian sales of which are up 35 per cent to the end of July – until it is replaced by a redesigned model riding on an all-new, weight-saving platform late next year or in early 2013.

Two new option packs will become available on the top-selling TDV8 Luxury variant and its new Supercharged counterpart, entitled Vogue Silver and Vogue Black, respectively priced at $3300 and $5200.

The Silver and Black packs respectively represent $5390 and $7880 of value when compared with MY2011 options prices and each will come with unique tailgate badging.

Both packs include blind-spot monitoring, surround-view cameras, automatic high-beam assist, illuminated sill tread plates and an eight-inch infotainment screen incorporating Dual View so driver and passenger can see different content.

The Vogue Black also adds Grand Black veneer and half-wood steering wheel and all MY2012 Vogues specified with Grand Black veneer feature a “crisp” Range Rover inlay.

Customers of the top-end Autobiography variants – which in TDV8 form is the second most popular Vogue – will also be able to specify an $8000 ‘Dynamic’ pack that includes a body kit and ‘Style 18’ shadow-chrome 20-inch alloy wheels.

Base prices of the TDV8 and Supercharged Autobiography variants increase $1800 and will come standard with new diamond-turned 20-inch alloy wheels.

As GoAuto has reported previously, Land Rover is also updating its Discovery and Range Rover Sport ranges in November – as well as launching its much-anticipated Evoque compact SUV – followed by an engine update for the venerable Defender off-roader in December.

Land Rover Australia spokesman James Scrimshaw told GoAuto the compact Freelander will also be updated, with MY2012 variants arriving late December or early January.

Range Rover drivetrains will remain unchanged, the 230kW/700Nm TDV8 linked with the renowned ZF eight-speed automatic transmission introduced mid-year.

Range Rover sold 135 Vogues in Australia to the end of July this year, contributing to a 19.4 per cent rise across the Land Rover stable to 3451 units.
