Future models - Hyundai - PalisadeRenewed Palisade debuts in New YorkHyundai’s full-size family hauler gets updated; due in Oz from Q3 202214 Apr 2022 By MATT BROGAN HYUNDAI unveiled its updated Palisade SUV, replete with a freshened design inside and out, at the New York Auto Show this week. The full-size family SUV will incorporate new convenience technologies, such as a 12.0-inch infotainment screen, Wi-Fi hotspot, digital key and Ergo-motion driver’s seat, plus new driver-assistance technologies and Bluelink connected-car services when the new model premieres locally in Q3 this year.
Externally, the 2022 Palisade is differentiated by reshaped bumpers, revised grille, headlights and DRLs, updated multi-spoke alloys, auto-dimming wing mirrors and vertical LED tail-lights, while inside there’s a new instrument panel, gauge cluster and audio interface design, a new-look steering wheel, refreshed upholstery materials, a choice of seven or eight seats, acoustic laminated rear door glass and heated third row seats.
Convenience and technology items are also significantly revised. The updated full-size family SUV gains a digital rear-view mirror, USB-C charging ports (up to 15W), a wireless device charging pad and enhanced voice recognition.
Furthermore, the new-look Palisade supports the latest version of Hyundai Digital Key. Digital Key 2 Touch allows owners to leave their car key at home and use an iPhone, Apple Watch, or a supported Android phone to lock, unlock, and start their vehicle. After the car key has been added to Apple Wallet or Samsung Pass, users can simply hold the supported device near the door handle to lock or unlock the car.
The model also takes a step towards autonomous driving with the inclusion of more advanced forward-collision avoidance technology, navigation-based adaptive cruise control, highway driving assist, reverse parking collision avoidance assist and remote smart parking assist.
Importantly, the Hyundai’s flagship family car now also offers full-length rear side-impact airbags as standard (for a total of nine) and includes Ultrasonic Rear Occupant Alert to advise the driver if children or pets are still in the back seat upon exiting the vehicle.
The US Palisade is powered by an Atkinson-cycle 3.8-litre V6 petrol engine developing 214kW at 6000rpm and 355Nm at 5200rpm. It is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission and is offered in two- or all-wheel-drive guises, the latter with Tow Mode capability.

The South Korean manufacturer says it has paid special attention to ensure the quietness of its renewed family hauler, fitting generous under-bonnet insulation and sound-deadening carpets.
From launch, and in the US market, the Palisade range will also introduce a new “dark-themed” XRT variant fitted with “rugged-themed” 20-inch alloys, a skid plate design element on the front and rear fascia, “rugged-look” lower door trims, a darkened grille, black roof rails, powered sunroof and black leatherette upholstery.
Colour choices will include Abyss Black, Hyper White, Steel Graphite, Sierra Burgundy, Typhoon Silver, Moonlight Cloud and Robust Emerald (new). Cloth, leatherette, leather and Nappa leather upholstery options are available depending on grade.
“The enhanced Hyundai Palisade offers the design appeal and features worthy of Hyundai’s flagship SUV,” said Hyundai Motor North America vice president, product planning and mobility strategy Olabisi Boyle.
“More than ever, Palisade is the ultimate family vehicle for daily use and memory-making road trips.”
Hyundai Motor Company Australia has yet to reveal specs and pricing of the Palisade for the local market, but says more will be revealed closer to the model’s launch in Q3.
