Those engine choices consist of two petrols and one diesel, which can be found under the bonnet of other Hyundai Motor Group offerings.
The base offering is a turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol mill developing 224kW of power and 422Nm of torque while the 2.2-litre turbo-diesel four-banger churns out 155kW/441Nm – both of which send their power to either the rear or all four wheels depending on customer preference.
At the top of the range sits a twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 good for 280kW/530Nm which will ship exclusively with all-wheel-drive.
Transmission details have not been confirmed as yet however we expect gear-shifting duties to be taken care of by the same eight-speed automatic as seen in both the G80 and bigger GV80 SUV.
All variants come as standard with launch control, with Genesis claiming a 5.1-second 0-100km/h time for the 3.5T flagship while an optional sport package is also available across the range which adds an electronic limited-slip differential, sport-exclusive wheels and some more aggressive styling cues.
All-wheel-drive versions also come with ‘multi terrain control’ to enhance off-road capabilities.
While local pricing and specifications are yet to be revealed, the GV70 follows in the tracks of its bigger GV80 sibling in offering plenty of standard equipment including a new bio-metric security system for the infotainment.
The fingerprint recognition can also be used in conjunction with the driver’s set-up preferences regarding position, menu and display configurations.

“Upon the release of the GV70 today, based on its customer-centric philosophy, Genesis will continue to provide luxurious models that consumers want and that help deliver special memories to their daily lives,” he said.
As previously covered by GoAuto, the GV70 resembles something of a scaled-down, sportier GV80 with the same horizontally split quad-headlight arrangement flanking the ‘Crest Grille’ which has been mounted lower down on the front fascia while the sloping roofline and extra body cladding add another element of athleticism.
