Ford reveals more of final Falcon

Light fantastic: It may be about five months before it arrives in local showrooms, but Ford is upping its promotion of the last Falcon sedan with a series of teaser images.

Second teaser reveals 2014 Ford Falcon tail-lights as marketing campaign ramps up

15 Jul 2014

FORD Australia has released a second teaser image of its last Falcon family car, this time giving the public a glimpse at its redesigned tail end.

The image was revealed via Ford Australia's official Facebook page accompanied by the hashtags #2014Falcon and #official, and shows a tail-light of the facelifted sedan, which will be the last to wear the iconic Falcon nameplate before the company shuts its local manufacturing operations in 2016.

Ford's closely cropped image shows that the Falcon styling will be heavily influenced by the US auto-maker's current global design language, with cues from the new-generation Fusion/Mondeo mid-size twins.

However, where the US-market Fusion and European Mondeo brake and tail-lights surround the indicator and reversing cluster, the Falcon's indicator/reversing light combination appears to flow into a chrome bar running along the boot-lid above where the registration plate is housed.

This latest teaser comes less than a week after the Blue Oval revealed its first close-up image of the Falcon's headlight, kicking off a teaser campaign that could last months.

It is unclear at this stage if the Falcon will arrive with any mechanical changes, but if the teaser shots are anything to go by, the facelift should bring a significant styling refresh.

Ford has previously confirmed that the final Falcon will go on sale in December this year, alongside a lightly refreshed version of the Territory SUV.

Ford is yet to confirm details of the Falcon line-up, but it has locked in a V8-powered XR8 variant for the final version of the 54-year old nameplate, which will be the range’s performance flagship.
