Road TestCar reviews - Toyota - RAV4 - Edge 5-dr wagonToyota modelsOverviewToyota has improved the RAV4 out of sight with the second-generation model29 Mar 2001 A DASHING new Toyota RAV4 moves in to replace the seminal "light duty" off-roader and adds more of everything, including weight. But the extra weight means more safety and more equipment without detracting from performance or economy - in fact the new model has more of both. An impressive job has been done on the new model's road behaviour, too, although it still blanches at the thought of a really steep, rutted bush track. It began as a short-wheelbase two-door in 1994 a four-door came in 1995. The 2.0-litre engine was quite sprightly and interior space reasonably handy. A cabriolet two-door came in 1998. |
