Super TestCar reviews - Saab - 9-3 - Aero 3-dr hatchSaab modelsOverviewThe 2001 Saab 9-3 Aero was a more balanced car than the unruly Viggen it replaced30 Jul 2001 SAAB'S 9-3 Aero coupe is the hero car of the range now that the 169kW Viggen has been consigned to history. For Saab, that's probably a good thing because the Viggen never rated as a well-balanced sporting saloon, what with its mammoth front-drive torque steer and screwed-down chassis. The Aero is altogether a more refined, balanced package although torque steer still lurks within to occasionally catch the inattentive driver. Back seat space is poor, but the hatchback rear and double-folding, split-fold rear seat provides massive luggage capacity.
