The 1.3-litre engine in the Trio has electronic multi-point fuel injection and produces 47kW at 5000rpm and 102Nm at 3000rpm. Performance from the 1.5 is good for its class, however an upgrade in early 1998 reduced the number of valves from 16 to eight and power and torque dropped 6kW and 10Nm respectively. Fuel consumption is a frugal 7.6L/100km on the official city cycle.
