Super TestCar reviews - Ford - Falcon - SR sedanFord modelsStand Out Features19 Nov 2001 By BRUCE NEWTON VALUE for money is what limited editions like the SR are all about and in this case Ford is claiming the extras are worth $3000 for just $400 more than the standard AUII Forte. Speaking more generally about the AUII Falcons, they have a clever firewall with a thin layer of plastic between the metal to isolate noise and vibration. Hydraulic engine mounts also aim to reduce NVH. The AUII upgrade also brought with it a dedicated LPG option on the six-cylinder Forte, Future and S with automatic transmission, and that's also available on SR. The usual fuel system is completely removed, including the fuel tank, fuel lines, pump, injectors, fuel rail and charcoal canister. The usual distance-to-empty gauge and Low Fuel warning lights remain. Performance and fuel range is claimed to be almost identical to petrol-powered vehicles. The sedan's LPG capacity is 92 litres. Dedicated LPG engines are identified by a unique green rocker cover. Cleverly, storage versatility in the sedan is no longer compromised by an LPG tank blocking the 60/40 rear seat fold-down feature.
