Especially when they are drawn out. Which is why the next two years are going to be tough because by the end of 2016, we say hooroo to the Aussie-built Falcon family car forever. Thanks to a decent chunk of money from the federal and Victorian state governments, and its global parent company, Ford Australia has been given the opportunity to give its local hero a fitting send off. It might still carry some mechanical parts that date back to the poorly received AU Falcon from 1998, but the styling of the FG X brings it bang up to date with the rest of Ford’s passenger car line-up. More appealing pricing, a simpler line-up and the return of the almighty XR8 are the headline items for the final Falcon, but it also gets new safety gear and new-generation in-car tech.
