A RESURGING Daewoo under GM has a host of interesting new models coming our way in the next three years, including a refreshed Matiz and a long overdue replacement for the now dead mid-sized Leganza. But the Holden-controlled South Korean firm’s renaissance began in earnest with last year’s Kalos light car and – especially – the Toyota Corolla-rivalling Lacetti. Ousting the six-year-old Nubira, the Lacetti introduces the J200 platform that will soon underpin an attractive five-door hatchback, four-door wagon and – come late 2005 – a four-wheel drive SUV in the mould of the Toyota RAV4 and Nissan X-Trail. So the J200 Lacetti has got to be good.
