Super TestCar reviews - BMW - X5 - 4.4iBMW modelsOverviewThe BMW X5 set new standards for dynamics in the luxury SUV segment9 May 2001 IF you were to nominate a hero in the burgeoning soft-roader category, then the new BMW X5 would undoubtedly be it. No other vehicle in the class has the dynamic ability of the Bavarian beauty. In fact, a few sporting sedans would find the X5 hard to push aside in an on-road joust. It's about as close as you can get to a luxury sedan in a 4WD body - although, as expected, the latter classification doesn't mean it's a bush-basher. A Suzuki Jimny would blow it away in the bush.
