It has awesome performance, but is smooth and reasonably frugal – and it sounds superb. We have raved about this engine in the 335i sedan, coupe and convertible models, and now BMW has slotted it into the 3 Series wagon to complete the range. Of course, it goes like the clappers and should win plenty of admiring glances when you pick the kids up from school, but the 335i Touring is not all good news.
