Road TestCar reviews - Audi - Allroad - V8Audi modelsOverviewAudi enlists V8 grunt to make its underrated Allroad AWD wagon even tastier27 Aug 2004 A COMPACT, lightweight and punchy V8 does for the Audi Allroad what it does for the A6 sedan. It creates a fire-breathing SUV capable of reaching 100km/h from a standstill in 7.2 seconds, yet is strong on torque so it is also more useful in the bush. Unlike other Allroads, the V8 is normally aspirated, meaning those very generous Newton-metres are virtually instantly available. In fact, in terms of sound quality, the V8 Allroad offers hints of the phenomenal Audi RS6 super sedan. This premium version of the most car-like SUV delivers push-in-the-back acceleration on the road without sacrificing the Allroad’s proven off-road abilities. But with all the cut-pile and leather, would you really want to plough into that enticing mud-hole?
