Opel’s launch in Australia was led by the popular Astra nameplate in September 2012, but the Corsa light-car had also spent time on the local market as the Holden Barina until it was replaced by a cheaper South Korean-sourced model in 2005.

GM’s German-arm Opel launched in Australia in September 2012 with an initial line-up of three vehicles. The Insignia mid-size sedan and wagon range was the flagship of the line-up and was available in base or Select specifications and the choice of either a 2.0-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel.
