W222 S-Class

1 Nov 2013

Released towards the end of 2013, the new high-end Mercedes-Benz S-Class limousine range represented the pinnacle of the German car-maker's technology.

The new S-Class arrived with a choice of the S350 six-cylinder diesel, the S500 V8 petrol and the high-performance bi-turbo V8 in the S63 AMG. Power varied between 190kW/620Nm in the base model, 335kw/700Nm in the mid-speccer and 430kW/900Nm in AMG guise.

Standard features on the S-Class included air suspension, soft-touch interior, stability control, brake assist and radar-guided adaptive cruise control.

June 2014 saw the arrival of two new variants of S-Class, dubbed the S300 BlueTec Hybrid, powered by a 2.2-litre diesel four-cylinder and an electric motor, and the S400, powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine.

Mercedes-Benz released its S-Class Coupe to the Australian market in early 2015, built on the same platform as its sedan sibling, but with sportier styling.
