Mazda 626GC Series II1 Aug 1985 A front and rear facelift, a comprehensively revised cabin, improved suspension, brakes and steering, new trim and more features and refinement distinguished the GC series II. Headroom was also increased marginally. The dull sedan received the hatchback’s longer nose cone, while some of the troublesome electronics and the base Special model disappeared. But the drivetrain remained the same. In January ’86 an 87kW turbocharged version of the 2.0L engine appeared in the Super Deluxe versions of all three body styles. In ’87 there were limited edition 626 SR sedans and MX hatchbacks, with extra features. Ford versions of this 626 were known as the AS Telstar. |
