Weight loss was also the G30's prerogative with savings of 95kgs thanks to the extensive use of magnesium, as well as all-aluminium doors, bootlid and bonnet. Meanwhile, the initial four-tier line-up was more simplified than its predecessor's, including the 520d, 530i, 530d and 540i – which were all rear-wheel-drive and fitted with an eight-speed automatic transmission as standard. Significant price rises between $9145 and $19,245 were balanced with added value from higher equipment levels, including a bevy of range-wide sensors that supported various safety and semi-autonomous technologies.
