Toyota introduced a revised HiAce range in July 2016, with significant revisions made to its diesel powerplant to ensure the engine met Euro 5 emissions standards.
The 3.0-litre turbocharged oil burner continued to produce 100kW/300Nm, but saw the addition of a diesel particulate filter which helped reduce fuel consumption by as much as 0.5 litres per 100 kilometres for some models.
A five-speed manual gearbox or four-speed automatic transmission carried over as options. The petrol unit was unaffected by this update, having been revised in 2015 to meet the aforementioned emissions targets.
However, there were sweeping changes to pricing for the model line-up, with the biggest jump impacting the manual commuter bus diesel – which increased by $2170.
