News - Rolls-RoyceRolls-Royce adds Privacy Suite option to PhantomOptional Privacy Suite furthers luxury in Rolls-Royce Phantom Extended Wheelbase3 Sep 2018 JUST when you thought the Phantom could not become more luxurious, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has upped the ante with the aptly-named Privacy Suite option for Extended Wheelbase examples of its upper-large sedan.
Revealed at the Chengdu motor show in China, the Privacy Suite is “an innovation that provides unrivalled levels of privacy and luxury”, according to the British luxury brand.
Specifically, the Privacy Suite features an electrochromatic glass partition that visually splits the cabin into two. It is controlled by the rear occupants who use a button to switch between a clear view of the road ahead or opacity for privacy.
In keep with its brief, the Privacy Suite builds upon the Phantom’s high level of sound absorption with a frequency-specific compound that prevents conversations taking place in the rear cabin from being heard in the front.
However, if rear occupants do wish to talk to those in the front cabin, they can use the Privacy Suite’s fully integrated intercom system that allows on-demand communication via the press of a button. Alternatively, the driver can ‘call’ their clients who can either accept or reject the request.
Rear occupants are also exclusively in control of a large, illuminated aperture that can be used to pass documents or other items between the front and rear cabins.
Furthermore, the Privacy Suite incorporates a bespoke Rear Theatre Entertainment set-up that includes two 12.0-inch high-definition displays linked up to the Phantom’s connected infotainment system, as well as an HMDI port that allows rear occupants to synchronise their personal devices.
As mentioned, all functions are controlled by the rear centre console, while the Phantom’s signature Starlight Headliner and Bespoke Clock feature alongside the Privacy Suite’s privacy curtains and glass for the rear-side and rear windows.
“As the world’s leading luxury brand, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is best placed to understand and harness the many different possibilities of luxury for its influential clients,” Rolls-Royce Motor Cars said in a press release.
“Throughout history, the power brokers and history-makers have negotiated some of the most historical agreements in confidence, thanks to the ‘luxury of privacy’ afforded to them by the rear compartment of a Rolls-Royce.”
As previously reported, the Phantom Extended Wheelbase launched in Australia a year ago and is priced from $1,100,000 driveaway, while its Standard Wheelbase costs $150,000 less.
Rolls-Royce has sold five sedans – including the Phantom and Ghost – to the end of July this year – the exact same number that found homes during the first seven months of 2017. Read more |
