MG unleashes seven-year capped price servicing

O-MG: MG Motor continues its steady march towards heavyweight status with new ‘Precise Price Servicing’ capped price servicing program.

New ‘Precise Price Servicing’ program from MG continues theme of sharp pricing

23 Aug 2021

MG MOTOR Australia has added capped price servicing to its ever-evolving business model Down Under, nicely complementing its competitive pricing, seven-year/unlimited kilometre warranty and ever-increasing number of dealers around the country.

Emulating Kia’s industry-leading seven-year capped-price servicing program, MG’s new ‘Precise Price Servicing’ covers the first seven intervals – 10,000km each besides the ZS EV – or seven years of ownership depending on which comes first.

The new program applies to any new vehicle purchased from within MG’s now 73-dealer-strong network since 2016, with all expected parts included within the cost.

MG Motor Australia and New Zealand CEO Peter Ciao said that “in a market where customers are becoming increasingly aware of their finances, providing transparency on the final cost customers will pay for servicing is very important”.

“Launching our Precise Price Servicing initiative is another step towards ensuring our customers have complete peace of mind when they join the MG family,” he said.

Since going live with the program, MG has published a new landing page on its website where both existing and prospective customers can enter their exact vehicle (model year, model and variant) to see the projected costs and what is involved in each service – just like Kia.

For comparison, GoAutoanalysed the projected servicing costs of a base model MY21 MG ZS Excite (1.5L) with a base MY21 Kia Seltos S (2.0L) – each brand’s most affordable offering within the booming compact SUV segment – across the duration of the respective capped price programs.

Continuing the Chinese marque’s value of sharp pricing, the MG undercut the Kia by an average of $119 per service across the seven years, with the Kia’s case being undone by pricey 24-, 48- and 72-month services.

As for the other intervals, the difference was never more than $68, though it is worth noting the Kia requires 15,000km intervals compared to the MG’s 10,000km.

MG Motor Australia has sold 22,857new vehicles so far this year ending July 31, marking a year-on-year increase of 233.3 per cent.

Kia meanwhile sold 43,096 new vehicles over the same period with a year-on-year increase of 38.6 per cent.
