News - MazdaMazda trademarks new corporate logoFlatter, two-dimensional Mazda logo trademarked, expected to debut on new MX-523 Jul 2024 MAZDA has recently been granted a trademark in Japan for a new corporate logo.
The revised motif remains closely linked to the brand’s current winged ‘M’ which has been in use since 1997. However, it features a flatter, two-dimension appearance inline with current trends, while moving from an oval to a more rounded, circular form.
Further, the ‘wings’ of the new M are more uniform in thickness than before, similar to that seen on the Mazda Arata EV concept shown in China earlier this year.
It is assumed the new design could be part of a global rebrand, however, it remains unclear as to whether it will be used as badging on vehicles or reserved for corporate purposes. Other sources indicate the logo could make its debut on the next-generation MX-5 due sometime within the next 18 months.
The redesign follows similar logo overhauls by Audi, Kia and Nissan who have all moved toward a two-dimensional motif in recent times.
