News - Lexus - RC - F Track EditionDetroit show: Lexus readies RC F Track EditionTop-shelf Lexus RC F Track Edition teased before Detroit motor show debut10 Dec 2018 By TUNG NGUYEN LEXUS is gearing up to unleash a new top-tier RC F coupe dubbed Track Edition in January at next year’s North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit.
The Japanese luxury car-maker has released a single close-up teaser image of the model’s fixed, carbon-fibre rear wing, but little else is known about the car.
Likely the new flagship of the facelifted Lexus RC coupe range that arrived in Australia earlier this month, the Track Edition is expected to be powered by the existing 5.0-litre petrol V8 found in the F variant.
Under the sleek bonnet of the former F flagship, the bent eight produces 351kW of power at 7100rpm and 530Nm of torque between 4800-5600rpm, but Lexus could turn up the wick for the Track Edition.
As its name implies, the new top-spec RC could also boast changes to the suspension and – like the fixed rear wing implies – its aerodynamic profile.
While pricing for the F grade RC has yet to be revealed by Lexus Australia, the outgoing version cost $137,729 before on-road costs, while the Carbon variant was $151,929, so expect to see the Track Edition cost more if it lands in local showrooms.
Sales of the Lexus RC have dipped 9.9 per cent to the end of November this year to 319 new registrations, placing it fifth in the over $80,000 sportscar segment behind the Mercedes-Benz C-Class coupe and convertible (1395), E-Class coupe and convertible (703), BMW 4 Series coupe and convertible (625) and Audi A5 (551).
