The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) recalls website describes the issue as affecting model year 2004, 2005 and 2006 Gallardo coupes and MY2005 MY2006 Spyders sold nationally. It says: “In certain conditions, the power steering high pressure pipe could be damaged, which may result in a small fluid leak,” and that “steering fluid leaks pose a potential fire hazard”. Affected vehicles are in the VIN range ZHWGE11M04LA00237 to ZHWGE22T66LA03425. A spokesperson for Lamborghini Australia told GoAuto they are not aware of any reported incidents in this country and confirmed the recall is part of a global campaign initiated by Lamborghini. Owners of affected vehicles are advised to contact their Lamborghini dealer or service centre to an arrange for an inspection and any necessary repairs. The last Gallardo recall was in 2006 over suspension bolts potentially coming loose under “extreme loading”. In 2010 the larger Murcielago coupe and Roadster were recalled over a possible fuel leak caused by one of the welds securing the fuel pump support to fail after being subject to vibration.
