Body kit boosts Astra appeal

Holden's stylish Astra hatchback can now be made to look even better

17 Dec 1999

HOLDEN has introduced a striking body kit for the Astra that enhances the car's already pleasing lines as well as bringing some aerodynamic benefits.

The iD Series body kit includes a rear spoiler, revised front bumper/chin spoiler, side skirts, rear bumper skirt and a chrome exhaust.

Complementing the package is a set of five-spoke, 16x6-inch alloy wheels shod with 205/55 tyres.

The cost of the total package is $3735 but customers may opt to purchase individual items that make up the kit.

The body kit is priced at $2090, the rear wing costs $540 and the wheel and tyre package adds another $1795.

Available through Holden by Design (HBD), the add-ons come with iD badging to add to their authenticity. Each Astra fitted with one or more of the accessories also receives an HBD build plate.

The styling enhancements were created by British-based Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR) - which has been associated with Holden since the mid-1980s - and Mr Ian Callum, recently appointed Jaguar's chief stylist.

Other accessories available from HBD include an electric sunroof, leather-bound steering wheel, cruise control, country roo bar, self-levelling suspension, satellite navigation and a dual-fuel LPG conversion.

"Although Astra has a stand-out style of its own, we know that many people like to add a personal touch," Holden marketing manager for small and medium cars Mr Gerry Groenewegen says.

"Now they have the flexible opportunity to order just the look they want." All accessories sold by HBD are covered by Holden's three- year/100,000km warranty.
