Citroen hits its range for six

CITROEN has announced a six-year unlimited-kilometre warranty on all new C-line and DS-line models, retaining its position as the car-maker with the longest new-vehicle warranty in Australia.

The announcement has been timed to coincide with the French national celebrations on Bastille Day and comes less than five months after Citroen confirmed a six-year unlimited-kilometre warranty on its DS-line and the C4 Grand Picasso people-mover in March this year.

Now Citroen has extended the six-year warranty to cover all models in its range, except its Berlingo light-commercial van. Models covered include the C3 light car, C4 small hatch, C5 mid-sizer, C4 Grand Picasso people-mover, DS3 coupe and cabrio, DS4 and DS5 luxury models.

Citroen says that the warranty comes with six years of roadside assistance and six-years’ capped-price servicing.

Citroen Australia national marketing manager, Manuel Tyras said the warranty has the support of its parent company, PSA and highlights the French car-maker's commitment to its local customers.

“The six-year unlimited kilometre warranty and six-year capped price service plan across our entire passenger range is a statement of our commitment to Australia,” Mr Tyras said.

“It could not have happened without the support of PSA and the entire Citroen team both here and in Paris and it could not have happened on a better day than Bastille.”

Until Citroen’s announcement, South Korean car-makers Hyundai and Kia offered the longest warranty, with a five-year unlimited kilometer assurance on all of its new passenger cars, while Mitsubishi has a five-year/130,000km warranty.

The warranties of other car-makers vary, with Mazda offering a three-year unlimited warranty, while Toyota, Holden, Ford and Citroen’s sister company Peugeot have three-year 100,000km warranties.

Fellow French car-maker Renault meanwhile offers a five-year unlimited-kilometre warranty on selected models.

Citroen’s six-year warranty is currently the longest available in Australia, but that title may soon be taken by another manufacturer.

This week Kia Australia said it was pondering a seven-year warranty for its new cars, but did not say when it would be introduced, if given the green light.
