VOLKSWAGEN Group Australia has revealed the pricing of its special-edition Amarok V6 580S which is set to touch down on Aussie shores next month from $70,990 plus on-road costs.
Just 200 examples of the 580S will make it to Australia, all adorned in ‘Carbon Steel Grey’, ‘Candy White’ or ‘Deep Black Pearl’ colour schemes and brandishing a bunch of extra exterior goodies compared to the normal V6 Ultimate flagship.
These consist of a body-coloured moulded styling bar, roof mounted light bar with twin 86-watt LED lamps, premium roll cover and the already mentioned colourways.
Inside, the 580S scores ‘Art Velour’ seat trim and heating function for the driver and front passenger seats.
Despite the extra kit, the limited-edition Amarok actually comes in $1800 cheaper than the V6 Ultimate on which it is based.
Under the bonnet resides the same turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine as the Ultimate, still churning out a class-leading 190kW (200kW on overboost) and 580Nm, driving all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Australia national marketing manager Nick Reid said he was pleased to be offering such a unique iteration of the brand’s flagship off-roader.
“Customers have always chosen the Amarok V6 for its power, off-road capability and domestic duty drivability, but one of the other aspects our customers have come to expect from the Amarok is just how well-kitted it is, in any spec,” he said.
“The Amarok V6 580S raises the bar yet again with a host of high-value special features that are not only practical, but lift the on-road presence of the most powerful ute in its class.”
Like all Amaroks – and the rest of the Volkswagen range – the 580S is covered by a five-year, unlimited kilometre warranty with VGA chalking up 1807 sales of its off-road pick-up truck so far this year ending April, 746 less than it managed over the same period last year.
