Based on the entry-level GL Navigator automatic, the 100 Year Anniversary Edition adds a roof spoiler, carbon-look front bumper decal, matching side decals and limited-edition badging with just two colour schemes set to be offered: “Burning Red” and “Speedy Blue” – each are paired with a “super black” roof.
Priced from $24,990 driveaway, the 100 Year Anniversary Edition is about $2000 upstream of its donor car but save for the added visual flair – and exclusivity – does not add any extra grunt or standard equipment.
Just like the base model, the limited-edition car is powered by a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine good for 66kW of power at 6000rpm and 122Nm of torque at 4400rpm, all of which is sent to the front wheels via a continuously-variable transmission.
Standard equipment meanwhile includes a digital speedometer, auto-up windows, rear stereo speakers, electronically-adjustable door mirrors, 16-inch alloy wheels, leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, Bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, satellite navigation, voice command, speed limiter, daytime running lights and a reversing camera.
Front, side and curtain airbags, anti-lock brakes, electronic brakeforce distribution, brake assist, stability control and a hill-hold function comprise the 100 Year Anniversary Edition’s safety credentials with the brakes also being the standard units – discs up front, drums at the rear.
Swift sales were up 19.5 per cent year-on-year through January and February with 999 units being sold, making it Suzuki’s best-selling model and earning it a 12.4 percent share of the sub-$25,000 light car segment.
