New models - Subaru - WRX - Club SpecSubaru resurrects Club Spec edition WRXBoy racers rejoice, as Subaru brings WRX Club Spec edition back with renewed vigour22 Mar 2024 SUBARU Australia has announced the return of its iconic WRX Club Spec special edition for 2024 and, in Club Spec tradition, it will again be limited to just 150 units.
Unlike late 90s and early 2000s Club Spec Evo models, which featured unique decals, wheels, leather interior and other cosmetic improvements, the new Club Spec SE scores serious performance upgrades.
After Subaru scrapped the rally-bred STI for the fifth generation WRX, ending nearly 30 years of boy racer thrills since the model was born in 1994, the Club Spec SE now injects renewed STI appeal into the current WRX range.
The Club Spec SE receives upgraded Brembo brakes with ventilated and drilled rotors, a massive rear wing, Recaro sports seats, 19-inch alloy wheels shod in sticky Bridgestone Potenza S007 rubber, unique badging, and specially tuned suspension and steering.
The engine output was never tickled or tweaked in previous Club Spec editions and, while not mentioned in Subaru’s official announcement, we expect power from the 2.4-litre turbocharged boxer engine will remain unchanged at 202kW/350Nm.
Club Spec SE models will only be offered with a six-speed manual ‘box, hinting at its clear performance focus and boisterous character, making it the only WRX model with no automatic (CVT) option.
Like the rest of the MY24 WRX models, the manual Club Spec SE will now receive Subaru’s EyeSight driver assist system with advanced safety features like adaptive cruise control, emergency lane keep assist, lane centring, lane departure prevention, lane departure warning, lane sway warning, and pre-collision braking.
The Subaru WRX Club Spec SE will be priced at $52,590 plus on-road costs, representing a $5100 premium over the base model WRX for those wanting STI go-fast bits and a bit more performance.
“The Club Spec name is one familiar to WRX enthusiasts with the first Club Spec offered in the late nineties and it being a well sought after special offering since then,” said Subaru Australia director Blair Read.
“The Club Spec offers the core ingredients for a WRX special edition of 19-inch wheels, Brembo brakes, Recaro seats, and STI style rear spoiler.
“Limited to only 150 units this is sure to be a very special limited edition.”
Subaru has officially opened the Club Spec for order, although limited to 150 units it will likely sell out fast.
